Cuban-American, Seattle based artist Laura Castellanos was born in Manhattan, grew up on Long Island and moved to Miami in 1979. In 1984, she received a ‘Marty Colker’ visual art scholarship while attending Florida International University. Her work is part of several public art collections, including the Tacoma Art Museum, City of Seattle Permanent Collection and Seattle City Lights Portable Works Collection.

Other highlights include: the Bumbershoot Poster, Civic Fence Project, Shunpike Storefront Project, televised features on the Seattle Channel such as “Art Zone” and Town Hall’s “Inside Art” as well as features in City Arts Magazine, Seattle Met and Crosscut. Recent solo exhibitions include, “Assorted Idols” at Moses Lake Museum & Art Center, “Borrowed Tribe” at Gallery 4Culture and "Bodega (love materials)" at ArtXchange gallery. Laura is an awardee of the prestigious Pollock-Krasner award and an Artist Trust GAP grant recipient.
