Laura Castellanos was born in Manhattan, in 1963, shortly after her mother immigrated from Cuba. Her maternal grandfather was a musician and esoteric reader/thinker. Her maternal grandmother was what some might call clairvoyant.

She created her first paintings by using cast off materials such as Kraft paper and “oops” house paint.

Forty years later, Laura is still creating, in a reclusive manner, working from a basement studio located in Tacoma, WA.
