Cuban-American artist Laura Castellanos was born in Manhattan in the early 60’s, grew up in New York and moved to Miami in 1979. She received a “Marty Colker” visual art’s scholarship while attending Florida International University. Her work is part of several public collections including the Tacoma Art Museum and the City of Seattle. Laura is Pollock-Krasner grant recipient, a “Neddy” nominee as well as the 1993 annual Bumbershoot poster creator. Laura has exhibited in several public venues including Center on Contemporary Arts (CoCA), SAM gallery, Anne Focke Gallery, Kirkland Art Center, Moses Lake Museum and Gallery 4Culture. Laura has been featured on the Seattle Channel’s Emmy award winning “Art Zone” and in several publications including City Arts Magazine as well as Dutch magazine “Textiel Plus”. Her public art projects include, the City of Seattle’s “Civic Square Fence” and Amazon’s Shunpike Storefronts. Laura recently moved to Georgia where she lives/works in a historic home near Thomasville’s downtown.
